East Formentera Boat Route
In our blog we have already talked about the most popular nautical route in the Pitiusas, the magnificent west coast of Formentera. However, it is not always ideal for navigation. In the rare days when the wind comes from the west, the east coast will provide us with landscapes that we cannot miss. Much quieter and less congested, it stands out for some large beach areas where we can relax.
The departure course is very similar to that of the West route, only this time, we will leave the Freus and the Espalmador islet by starboard. By not having to cross between the two islands, there is no obstacle that we have to save on this route.
Levante Beach
Levante beach is very similar in quality of water and sand that its opposite Illetas. In fact, there are areas where both are separated by a sand tongue that barely reaches 40 meters thick. Given its extension and thanks to the fact that it is not as limited by the islets as Illetas, we can anchor our boat without danger of hitting the other vessels, as they will be much more separated from each other.
Unfortunately, we will only have one restaurant to eat at this beach. However, given the quality and the good prices available at the restaurant El Tanga, added to the kindness of the team leaded by Rafa Tur, we will undoubtedly enjoy an unforgettable meal in a privileged place. As usual in this type of restaurants, the specialty is Ibizan and Mediterranean cuisine, especially rice and fish.
Es Pujols
Our next stop will be on the cliff of Es Pujols. It is a quiet area with very deep waters (sandy soil, so anchoring is quite simple). Our recommendation is to anchor near a cave called Racó des Cingles, where you can find different heights to jump into the water (always with caution). This area is also indicated for a gastronomic stop, since a restaurant that has become fashionable in recent years has its location here. This is the Italian food restaurant Chezz Gerdi.
Es Caló
The last stop of our day is a few miles to the south-east. After leaving Punta Prima by starboard and lowering its impressive cliffs, we'll reach the base of La Mola. There we can make a stop at the dock of Es Caló, where you can have a relaxing coffee at the Fonda Rafalet with its idyllic views. If our boat is too big to enter the dock, it is advisable to go with the tender or use the restaurant's shuttle service.
For a final bath we will go to the coves next to the dock, the Racó de ses Pedreres and the Racó de sa Pujada. The cliffs, in this case are leafy green and the combination of colors to join the turquoise waters is spectacular.
