Sailing around Ibiza is one of the greatest pleasures the Mediterranean Sea has to offer. To live an unforgettable experience in our crystal clear waters, it is necessary to know the best places, coves and corners where you can anchor with your rental boat in Ibiza.

Anchor in Ibiza: Cala d'es Jondal

The beach of Cala Jondal or Cala d'es Jondal is one of the favourite places to anchor in Ibiza, so it is quite common to coincide with other people who have decided to rent a boat and enjoy this wonderful environment.

The restaurant options you have in the cove itself, being able to rub shoulders with the "jet-set" and see luxury yachts anchoring, the fact that it is one of the few beaches in Ibiza made up of pebbles,... Many reasons to anchor in Cala Jondal, which one would you choose?

Anchor in Ibiza: Cala Vadella

In the south-west of the municipality of San José is a family beach that is very popular with tourists and residents. This is Cala Vadella or Cala Vedella, a small bay with calm waters, fine sand and a gentle slope.

Anchoring in Cala Vadella is ideal if you plan to rent a boat in Ibiza to sail with the whole family. The youngest members of the family will have a great time and the adults will be able to enjoy the wide range of restaurants that can be found here.

Where NOT to anchor in Ibiza?

As a general rule (and as stated in the Safety Regulations and recommendations of the Ministry of Transport) it is not allowed to anchor in the coastal strip parallel to the coast, which is 200 metres wide.

But on the other hand, in Ibiza we have an underwater ecosystem that, in addition to being a World Heritage Site, is threatened by climate change. We are talking about the Posidonia Oceanica forests.

These forests are responsible for oxygenating the waters and giving our sea its characteristic transparency and turquoise. It is very important not to anchor on the Posidonia, you are helping to protect this important organism!
